Planner/Buyer

Duration - 6 Months, Contract, W-2

Location - Onsite in Irvine, CA

Pay - $35 - $43.20 an hr

The main function of a buyer is to purchase raw material, equipment, tools, parts, supplies or services necessary for the operation of an establishment. A typical buyer is responsible for buying goods and services for use by their company or organization. A purchasing agent is responsible for the purchase of raw material, equipment, parts, or services necessary for the operation of an establishment.

Duties:

* Review and potentially optimize suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability and other relevant factors.

* Approve purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.

* Instruct staff on how to resolve problems related to undelivered goods.

* Instruct staff on methods of negotiation, renegotiation and administration of contracts with suppliers, vendors and other representatives.

* Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.

* Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes.

* Buyer supporting indirect regulated materials (product-contact items)

* Issue and review purchase orders

* Partner with manufacturing to understand needs and options

* Coordinate cross-functionally to support procurement decisions

* Support increasing workload alongside current team member

Operational Responsibilities

* Ensure timely material availability

* Manage procurement workflows to avoid delays

* Facilitate communication across stakeholders

* Handle high-volume, coordination-heavy purchasing activities

Compliance & Quality Responsibilities

* Operate within regulated environment standards

* Support handling of materials requiring oversight

* Ensure compliance with quality requirements

* Prevent non-compliant materials from entering production

Success Measures

* Materials consistently available for production

* No disruptions due to supply gaps

* All materials meet regulatory standards

* Strong cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in supply chain or a related business field required.

* 2-4 years related supply chain experience required.

* Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, negotiation skills and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to analyze financial reports, price proposals and other technical data.

* Ability to accurately document and record customer/client information.

* Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to purchasing.

* Knowledge of supply chain management.

* Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

* Preferred knowledge of procurement within a regulated industry.
